SEEMA C. SHAH-FAIRBANK

Faculty Advisor

Seema C. Shah-Fairbank is an assistant professor in Water Resources at Cal Poly Pomona. She teaches courses in hydrology, hydraulics and environmental engineering. Seema is currently serving as the student section advisor for the American Societies of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Her specialization is in sediment transport and river mechanics. During her free time, Dr. Fairbank loves to paint, hike and volunteer in her community.

ALLAN NG

Faculty Advisor

Allan Ng is an essential part of the team, and has been with American Society of Civil Engineers since the very beginning. As our Manager, they’ve worked with and helped countless customers to ensure complete satisfaction.

KENNETH LAMB

Faculty Advisor

Kenneth Lamb is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona.  Prior to his academic career, he was a Supervising Designer in the water/wastewater division at G.C. Wallace Inc. in Las Vegas, NV.  During his graduate work Kenneth researched methods for improving water supply forecasts for the Colorado River Basin. Kenneth is a licensed Civil Engineer in the State of Nevada.  He holds a B.S. and Ph.D in Engineering from the University of Nevada Las Vegas as well as a Masters of Civil Engineering from Norwich University.

MATTHEW JACOBSON

Matthew is a third-year civil engineering student and is very excited to be serving as this year's president. He has previously served as Alumni Relations Chair and Events Chair organizing various annual alumni and social events including the Golf Tournament, Mammoth Trip, and Department Banquet. This year he hopes to unify all the department clubs to enhance the student experience at Cal Poly Pomona. This past summer he interned at Kimley-Horn and Associates in their Developmental Services Team. In addition to ASCE, Matthew is involved with Chi Epsilon and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Aside from school, Matthew enjoys running, photography, hanging out with friends, and boba.

COLBY WONG

Vice President, Internal

Colby is a third-year general civil engineering student and is serving as this year's Vice President Internal. This will be her third year as an officer, having previously served as one of the First-Year Representatives and one of the Outreach and Community Service Chairs. She is also an active member of the California Water Environment Association - American Water Works Association (CWEA-AWWA) and Chi Epsilon Honor Society. Colby is currently a civil engineering intern for Southern California Edison (SCE) and plans to pursue a career in structural engineering. When Colby is not working on anything related to school, work, or ASCE, she loves to dance, bake, and spend time with her loved ones.

VALERIE SARMIENTO

Valerie is a third-year general civil engineering student who is honored to take on the position of this year's Vice President External. She previously served as ASCE's Professional Events Chair and First-Year Representative, as well as Concrete Canoe's Treasurer. She also participated in the Membership Development Committee for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. This past summer, she interned for the Consulting Engineers Group as a structural intern. In her free time, Valerie loves going to museums and local concerts and spending time with family. She is excited to continue her participation in ASCE and looks forward to accomplishing new things this academic year.

NICOLE AQUINO

Nicole is a third-year civil engineering student serving as this year's Treasurer. This is her second year as an officer as she previously served as Outreach and Community Service Chair. She is also involved with the Institute of Transportation Engineers as their webmaster and is an initiated member of Chi Epsilon. She wishes to pursue a career in the transportation field and is currently a Civil Engineering intern at WSP. This year she is looking forward to being more involved and meeting more civil students. During her free time, Nicole enjoys trying new foods, finding new music, and spontaneous adventures.

CASEY WONG

Casey is a third-year civil engineering student serving as this year's Secretary. This is her second year as an officer as she previously served as Publicity Chair. She is also involved in Steel Bridge as Aesthetics Captain. She wishes to pursue a career in the structural or construction field. She is currently an Engineering Aide at the City of Monterey Park - Public Works Engineering. This year she is excited to network more with students and professionals at different events. During her free time, Casey enjoys going out to eat and drink boba, go to Disneyland, and spend quality time with her friends and boyfriend.

BREANNA RUIZ-CARRILO

Breanna is a third-year general civil engineering student. She will be serving as this year’s Vice President, External. This summer she interned at Kimley Horn as a Roadway Intern working on various municipal projects. She is also the Logistics Captain for Cal Poly Pomona’s Steel Bridge team and Kellogg Honors College student. Breanna is looking forward to this year’s events including Order of the     Engineer and Mentorship.

ANDRE CARRASCO

Andre is a second-year civil engineering student who is grateful to serve as this year’s Membership Chair. This is his first year serving in a leadership position in ASCE but was involved heavily last year. This past summer Andre interned at the Vinje & Middleton Engineering Inc, a geotechnical firm in Escondido CA, and looks forward to working there full time this coming summer.

Breanna is a fourth-year Civil Engineering student and is excited to be serving as this year’s Professional Events Chair. This is her fourth year as an officer, having previously served as a First-Year Representative, Fundraising Chair, and Vice President External. Breanna is  also involved with the Steel Bridge Competition team as CAD Manager, Chi Epsilon Honor Society, the Institute for Transportation Engineers, Women’s Transportation Seminar, and the Kellogg Honors College. This summer she interned at Kimley Horn as a Roadway Intern working on various municipal projects. Breanna is looking forward to her last year at Cal Poly Pomona and excited for the events that are to come this school year.

JAVIER RUEDAS

Javier is a second-year general civil engineering student and is extremely excited to be serving as this year's Social Events Chair. He will be planning many of the social events and contributing his ideas to the ASCE student chapter. Javier is also a part of Concrete Canoe, Maximizing Engineering Potential, and Sigma Chi at Cal Poly Pomona. In his free time, Javier enjoys spending time with friends, being outdoors, soccer, bowling, and playing poker. He is looking forward to the upcoming year as he hopes to find and encourage more students to join ASCE.

CELESTE CHAN

Celeste is a second-year civil engineering student and is excited to be one of this year's Outreach and Community Service Chairs. She hopes to use the skills she gained from her Girl Scouting and SWE experience to organize more outreach and community service events this year. This past summer, she interned at AKM Consulting Engineers and worked on water development projects across Los Angeles and Orange County. In addition to ASCE, Celeste is involved with the Society of Women Engineers, Kellogg Honors College, and Maximizing Engineering Potential. In her free time, Celeste enjoys playing piano, traveling, and working out.

SAMUEL SALDIVAR

Sam is a fourth-year civil engineering student and is excited to be one of this year’s Outreach and Community Service Chairs. He currently works for the City of Anaheim at a library and is excited to bring his experience to lead more community and outreach events for ASCE.  In addition to ASCE, Sam is involved with the Student Alumni Association as the Director of Communications. In his free time, Sam enjoys participating in outdoor activities such as going to the beach and hiking. He also enjoys going to music festivals and concerts.

JOHN AGUILAR

John is a third-year civil engineering student and is serving as this year's Publicity Chair. He has been involved with ASCE since his freshman year, but this year marks his first as an officer. He sees ASCE as a stepping stone for future career opportunities and plans to get involved with other civil engineering organizations on campus. Outside of school and ASCE, he enjoys playing piano and producing music.

ANDREW DEL CARPIO

Andrew Del Carpio is a third-year Civil Engineering student and is very proud to be one of this year's Conference Chairs. Last year, he was involved in the organization as a member and began to meet many of the other faces who are also on board at the various events. He hopes to make this year's PSWC a memorable one with the collaboration of his Co-Chair. In addition to ASCE, Andrew is also Vice President Internal for the Student Alumni Association. Outside of school, he enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, running, going to the gym, or doing any outdoor activities. He is a very friendly, approachable, and energetic individual who enjoys making new friends and getting to know people.

JUSTIN HOANG

Justin is a fourth-year general civil engineering student and is serving as this year’s Conference Chair. Last year, he was ASCE Social Events Chair as well as Co-Project Manager for the PSWC Transportation Competition. He wishes to pursue a career in transportation engineering and is currently interning at Parsons as a road and highway intern. In his free time, Justin loves food adventures, spending time with friends and family, and taking photos. For this upcoming year Justin is looking forward to organizing the Pacific Southwest Conference and hoping to have a great last year at Cal Poly Pomona.

Megan is a third-year general civil engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona. She is this year’s ASCE Strategic Communications Chair. She is also involved as EERI’s Secretary and GeoWall’s Aesthetics Chair. She currently works as a Public Works Intern for the City of Diamond Bar. In her free time, she watches Netflix, spends time with friends, drinks boba, and plays Pokemon Go (3266 3815 2659).

ELIZABETH AGUILAR

Alumni Relations Chair

Elizabeth is a second-year civil engineering student who is proud to be serving as one of this year's Alumni Relations Chairs. This past school year, she was involved in various ASCE committees, including the planning of the Annual Golf Tournament and Civil Day. In the upcoming year, she hopes to run a very successful Alumni Mentorship Program that further connects current students with future opportunities. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her French bulldog, going on food runs, playing tennis and badminton, and spending time with her friends and family.

MARYN SANTIAGO

Maryn is a second-year civil engineering student who is honored to serve as one of this year's Alumni Relations Chairs. She was one of ASCE's First-Year Representatives last year. Last summer, Maryn interned at the City of San Dimas Public Works Department, and looks forward to starting her next internship at Kimley-Horn in Development Services. The ASCE Student Chapter at Cal Poly Pomona has brought Maryn many opportunities, and she's ecstatic to be able to contribute to the chapter's success this coming year.

KEVIN GONZALEZ

Kevin is a fourth-year civil engineering student and is this year's Concrete Canoe Internal Project Manager. He has been involved with canoe since freshmen year and has previously served as the team's Mix Design and Aesthetics Captain. This year, his goal for the team is to have a competitive canoe at PSWC. Besides ASCE and Concrete Canoe, Kevin is also involved with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) as well as Chi Epsilon. In his free time, Kevin enjoys running, playing soccer and going on coffee and food adventures.

ANDERSON YE

Anderson is a fourth-year general civil engineering major and is this year's External Project Manager for Concrete Canoe. He was previously the Hull Design captain and Paper/Presentation captain for the Canoe team. This year he hopes to grow Concrete Canoe by bringing a wider variety of students onto the team. Anderson is currently an environmental intern at the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County and previously was a structural intern at the Metropolitan Water District. When he has free time, Anderson enjoys going on food adventures, playing video games, drawing, and hiking with friends.

FRANCISCO FRANCO

Francisco is a fifth-year general civil engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona. He is the Project Manager for Steel Bridge. He interned at Kimley-Horn over the summer at the Orange Office for their Development Services team. He will be joining Kimley-Horn after he graduates to work full-time. When he has free time, he likes to play and watch soccer.

JAKOB KELSO

Jakob is a third-year general civil engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona. He is this year's First-Year Representative. Jakob has spent the last two years working as a community service leader in his hometown of Torrance. He hopes to take the leadership and teamwork skills acquired from this job to make great gains to ASCE. Jakob is currently looking for an internship this semester to gain experience in civil engineering. In his free time, Jakob participates in the Ultimate Frisbee team at Cal Poly Pomona. He also hikes, surfs, and plays baseball. If you can't find Jakob doing these things, he is probably hanging out with friends or locked inside his room reliving Avengers: Endgame.

ROBERTO CURIEL

Roberto Curiel is a third-year general civil engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona. He is this year's Co-Events Chair. He worked as a math and chemistry tutor at Mt. San Antonio Community College for 15 months. He was also a Supplemental Instructor/ET for 3 months in an Engineering Statics course. He hopes to use his discipline and leadership skills he gained in tutoring to help other students achieve their goals. He will be working in Summer 2020 with Tilden-Coil Construction as a Project Engineer Intern. In his free time he plays competitive soccer and watches sports and movies. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
