The Department of Civil Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona is a national leader in polytechnic education, where hands-on, learn-by-doing experiences prepare students to become innovative and highly skilled engineering professionals. Home to one of the largest undergraduate civil engineering programs in the nation, the department plays a vital role in developing California's future engineering workforce. Students can pursue degrees in Civil Engineering with concentrations in General Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering, as well as Construction Engineering and Management. The department also offers a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) with specialized options in Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental and Water Resources, Geotechnical, Structural, and Transportation Engineering.

A cornerstone tradition of the department is the Annual CPP Civil Engineering Alumni Golf Tournament, founded by Professor Emeritus Donald G. Wells, P.E., M.S. Known affectionately as "Water Wells," Professor Wells was a respected leader in environmental and water resources engineering and a dedicated mentor to generations of Cal Poly Pomona students. Throughout his career, he championed student success, served as a longtime faculty advisor to the CPP ASCE Student Chapter, and fostered meaningful connections between students and the engineering profession. Today, the tournament continues his legacy by raising funds that support scholarships, student projects, competitions, professional development opportunities, and other initiatives that enrich the student experience.
