Subject: Notice of Postponement for Civil Engineering and Construction Department Banquet
Dear Students and Faculty,
In response to the developing situation of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we shall continue to monitor the situation with the University and the California State University (CSU) along with state and federal officials. Under the current direction and instruction from both campus administration at Cal Poly Pomona and the CSU, there are several immediate actions we must take for our spring semester events.
It is with deep regret that we have decided to postpone the Civil Engineering and Construction Department Banquet on Friday, May 1, 2020. Please understand that we are actively taking steps to reschedule for May 2021. This is from the University and CSU mandate to suspend all non-essential travel and cancel all events with more than 100 participants, through May 31, 2020.
Plans for Postponement
We understand that this comes at a time especially important to our students and events that make our student chapter successful. We sincerely apologize for the additional difficulties and stress this may cause. We are taking action with the venue to postpone to May 2021. Currently, we are exploring options to best recognize the truly amazing work that our students have done this academic year.
Plans for Attendance
We completely sympathize for those who are graduating this 2020 Spring Semester as this may not have been your vision for the future. We will take proactive steps to make sure that all those who graduate this semester will have the chance to attend the banquet in May 2021. We do not want to undermine the value that the students bring to this campus by not being able to celebrate your accomplishments in a manner which we originally intended. You are extremely important to the mission and value of our students, faculty, department and campus.
We understand that the uncertainty for future events can be distressing and intimidating; however, we ask for your continued patience through this rapidly developing situation. We anticipate that many of you will have questions that we may not have the answers to yet. We would like to assure you we are currently working on plans for all events and that they will be updated as soon as possible. We have launched a website page (cppasce.org/spring-events) that you can visit for answers to all your questions.
At this time of heightened anxiety and concern, we ask for your patience in addressing unanswered questions, as we are sure that there will be many. We are working diligently to assure that the most essential aspects of our student chapter are preserved during this development.
Thank you for your continued patience as we work collectively to keep our campus and our community safe and healthy. If there are any questions regarding upcoming events, please feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
